In the second season of the RuPay Premier Volleyball League powered by A23, Ahmedabad Defenders defeated Chennai Blitz on Sunday at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad to earn their third straight victory. Nandagopal Subramaniyam's impressive effort earned him the title of Player of the Match.
Akhin led the middle with his aggressive assaults as Chennai Blitz gained control. With his fierce blocks, center blocker LM Manoj leveled the playing field for the Ahmedabad Defenders. The sharp spikes of Danial Moatazedi prevented Chennai from taking a breath.
Akhin's involvement proved essential for the Blitz as the match evolved into a middle-game fight. Blitz benefited from Chennai's plan to move Jobin Varghese to the left side, but Ahmedabad remained in the lead because to Manoj and Nandagopal's reliable blocks. Ahmedabad Defenders began scoring points unintentionally after Angamuthu and Santhosh made spike blunders.
Moyo and Renato were veering off in different ways a lot, which gave Blitz a chance. However Chennai's uprising was put down by a masterfully performed combination play from the captain Muthusamy Appavu and Angamuthu, and the Defenders regained control of the game.
Even though he sometimes found himself in uncomfortable circumstances, Muthusamy persisted in passing the ball to his midfield attackers. Chennai's fears were further made worse by Danial's imposing presence. For Chennai, Akhin continued attempting to make a difference from the middle, but he received little assistance, and Ahmedabad won the match in straight sets.
The Defenders put everything on the line in an effort to secure a 5-0 victory and move up to first place. While Nandagopal continued to improve, Chennai was unable to return his strong serves, and Ahmedabad finished the match with a clean sweep victory to earn 3 points.
In the sixth day of the Hyderabad leg of the RuPay Premier Volleyball League, starting at 1900 IST on February 20, 2023, Kolkata Thunderbolts will play Mumbai Meteors, while Ahmedabad Defenders will play Calicut Heroes at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium.
