Football player Luis Suarez from Uruguay keeps making an impact throughout the world. He is renowned for his on-field theatrics, which elicit strong emotions in people, in addition to his voracious thirst for scoring goals.
But Suarez is a sure source of fun.
The veteran attacker may no longer be playing in the top European football divisions, but he still has a thirst for the game. He is now captivating Brazilian soccer fans.
The 36-year-old is now representing Gremio in Brazil's Serie A, and in only five games, he has scored seven goals. The team hasn't yet suffered a loss since his arrival.
On Sunday, he was in the middle of the action when Gremio beat Esporte Clube Avendia. His antics caused a large melee, and army personnel had to step in to protect the match referee.
Suarez took advantage of the fact that few players from the other team were still objecting to the foul that led to the set piece while taking the next free kick. He quickly took a free kick to put up his colleague Cristaldo for a goal while his opponents were preoccupied.
Astonished by the change of events, the Avendia players started to argue with the referee. A major fight broke out when numerous Gremio players attempted to break up the altercation after they were informed that the goal would stand after all. Things quickly worsened as angry Avendia players surrounded the referee.
As the situation became tense, the troops with their shields sprung into action and dashed into the field. But the demonstration persisted for some time.
Two Avendia players were dismissed as a consequence of the brawl, and Gremio scored a late goal to secure a 2-0 victory and keep their lead in the rankings.
Before joining La Liga powerhouse FC Barcelona, Suarez played for Liverpool in the Premier League during his prime.
